Case study: E2 Drives

[Bulbthings] We admire creative companies with great ideas! Can you tell us about yours and the services you offer to your customers?

[Gilles Simon, Prototype Engineer] We are a Belgium-based, Engineering company. We are part of the Decathlon Group and we design, prototype, test and validate motors and gearboxes for their electric bikes. We offer our customers an innovative pedaling solution (with a continuous transmission, without jolts). The best is to go and test it in store, it’s incredible 🙂

How did the need for an equipment tracking system come about?

With more than a hundred prototypes (for the moment) in circulation at our customers, partners, suppliers, and also internally, Excel was becoming too limited. We need a clear and explicit system to know where the prototypes are, since when. Keeping a history of what happened on it is a big plus, especially when several teams are working on it at the same time.

Digitalisation plays an important role in your company, why did you choose Bulbthings?

We needed collaborative software with teams located in different countries. Digitalisation was mandatory for our use case. We chose Bulbthings after a market study based on our needs, but especially because of the possibility of customisation.

What benefits (quantitative and qualitative) have you gotten from it so far?

From the start, we have seen a very clear improvement in communication, and therefore in the quality of work that depends on it. The information is accessible to everyone. Booking assets avoids frustrations and the multiplication of documents.

Are there any favorite features or usage tips that you would like to share with the community?

The QR code system to scan assets easily is very useful, and is used daily within our company. The ability to customise the settings of each asset is a big plus because each use case is totally different, and therefore it is essential. All linked with Google Workspace to link documents (URL) and JIRA (our ticket tracking tool), this makes Bulbthings a tool that becomes central in our case.
